The R-Chair’s name is derived from the morse code like incisions on its seat. These incisions not only allow for wind and water to pass through the form, but they also act as a lock to avoid the removable cushion from slipping when one sits down. The morse code nods at a secretive yet highly functional system of communication. This speaks to the chairs effcient use of material through simplicity and adaptability, its hidden connection points on the backside of the seat and its purpose as a vehicle for outdoor gathering and conversation. The R-Chair fullfills a level of comfort and ease for the user, knowing it can always be where it was meant to be…outside.
